Lecithin is a phospholipid required for many cellular functions.
It is ESSENTIAL to supplement long term lecithin after gallbladder removal. Due to the impact of bile disruption after gallbladder removal, we use lecithin to emulsify the fats we consume so they are absorbed and metabolised. Without lecithin in the diet of a gallbladder removal patient, you are at greater risk of fatty acid deficiency, premature ageing and cardiovascular disease.
